Details on those changes in the overtime law

I'm too wrung out to even attempt any sort of analysis tonight, but you can click here to read what the Department of Labor has to say instead of just listening to a bunch of talking heads who'll do anything in their power to make George Bush's administration look bad.

I'm ashamed to say that I haven't been paying close enough attention to understand all of the ramifications of the law changes. However, I do know that Ryan was reclassified as "non-exempt", which brought him a .19/hour raise. And, he now gets time-and-a-half comp time when he works more than 40 hours instead of the straight time comp time that he had been earning. These both seem like good things to me.

I still haven't really researched the new law and probably won't. I only tracked down the information I did because the mainstream media was trying hard to spin the new law as something else bad that terrible Bush administration was doing to make life tougher for the common folk and I wondered if they really had something this time or if it was just another example of their ongoing effort to Help Kerry any way they can. So far, the only person I know personally who has been affected by the new law in any way has benefited from it. Surprise, surprise!
